New London Cyclone!

Gossip 4 Comments »

The New London Cyclone Criterium is this Sunday. The race is going to be pretty awesome. It’s the first time in my days of racing that a race has been so close to my parents place and my old training routes. I’m looking forward to it, so if your in the area, come out and support it. I can guarantee free Jelly Belly’s and a good race! I hope a lot of people come out, the race has been heavily advertised in southeastern Connecticut. The promoter of the race in New London is Bill Humphrey’s; a retired racer, who wrote history in the US cycling world with the Raleigh team in the 1970’s. image_history_armstrong.jpg Bill has continued to stay in the sport through coaching, race promoting and cycling awareness. I can say he definitely over qualifies for race promotion! The other J-Dawg…Jesse Anthony is coming out to the race as well as my man Alec D and the coffee connoisseur M.Feldman. I’m getting ready for my trip across the pacific to China for the Tour of Qinghai Lakes in a couple weeks time. That should be an amazing trip. That is all the big news thats going on in my world. I’ll report back after the race with some pictures! GOOD JOB TO NICK REISTAD FOR WINNING THE KOM JERSEY IN MINNESOTA!!!

Just a quick reply to my teammate Brad Huff about my other teammate Nic Sanders pizza leg syndrome, I thought I would dig up a picture I took from a while back sanersonpizzalegs.jpg It seems weird that pizza legs is just setting in now, but what happens (FROM MY UNDERSTANDING) And I don’t claim to be a Yale graduate like my teammate Bernard Van Ulden who went to Yale and was in a fraternity there. Nor do I have my masters in sports nutrition like Andy Guptill or any other degree’s for that matter. But I do know that Pizza legs can start pretty far out and it builds up toxicity, so while you initially aren’t diagnosed properly with the disease, it becomes blatantly apparent in its later stages. Our team doctor has run a simple PL or a CPLC/CPLC which is a ‘complete pizza leg count’ blood test. Typically its ran with the other main protagonist Pasta. You can in fact. Get pasta legs, thats much much less typical, it only happens on occasion to a very very small number of people. But always good to rule out if your gonna look into CPLC anyways. So from my knowledge of pizza leg syndrome, it takes at least a month to even start to feel back to normal after its starts to rear its ugly head. The Doc says the best thing you can do is 5hr rides everyday twice a day until its gone…

I’m in Philly, photo_060608_013.jpg Obviously bored, this morning Nick Riestad and I went to an elementary school to amp the kids up about the race on Sunday here in Philly. It was pretty cool. The kids made up all these chants (very creative ones) and gave Nick and I a sign that read “Bean there, Won That…” Haha, funny stuff! On the way home we stopped off in China Town Philadelphia, since the school was right there anyways. We got some good eats, saw these craps photo_060608_009.jpg who were pretty pissed to be in that bucket, and I ate some soup at 11am, photo_060608_008.jpg you cannot get soup legs, impossible in this country. luckily.

I hate blogging sometimes, I just wrote a huge long post an hr ago and now its just gone. Its disappeared into that box of things that you lose. You ever wonder where those things go? Like that pair of Oakleys you had when you were 12 or the Ninja Turtle game boy or the duck hunt controller, where did all that go? Weeeelll, I hope that I find that box of crap, along with my last blog post sometime soon, because this is gettin old.

Things that have happened… I drove to new jersey for the Ricola Crit last Wednesday. Got 14th. But I was in a break with Russ Langley, we got caught a couple hundred meters to the line. After the race I went into the city with my roommate and drivin mate Al Donahue. We got dinner with his lady at this cool spot called prune I ate some crazy but delicious, braised rabbit, fried sweetbreads and brown butter leaks to name a couple. After that we went into china town and got the dirt. The season enders… dirt.jpg But, we couldn’t figure out why it was so dead though. The next day the police reported a double homicide about 1 block from where we hunkered down and found those sweet treats. (whooops) Now I’m at philly week. Its Humid, even raining, and the racing is ridiculously fast, My teammate Brad Huff continues to thrash guys and rode to 3rd yesterday. cyc-lvc998.jpg Tomorrow we have another race, which is a little shorter in thus will be a little harder, so there you have it, it’s probably better that my post didnt work because this one is shorter, more to the point and whatever, I’m going to bed.
