D-Town Trainin camp

July is awesome month to be riding bikes, Everyone is either riding, racing or at least reading and thinking about riding and the races. My last race in St.Louis, MO two wks ago was HOT, 105 degree heat index! I definetly had good legs in MO, but botched the finish by not knowing we were on our last lap! It was so hot and I guess I was disoriented and only paying attention to my computer, not the lap cards. So I failed that one…. But since then I’ve been hangin’ with some friends of mine in Durango, CO and let me say It’s been so gorgeous here and the training is invaluable to me at this point. Last year if your a regular here, you know that I went to China for the tour of Qinghai Lakes. A ten day stage race in the Tibetan highlands at AMAZINGLY high altitude. The race starts off at ~7000ft and climbs as high as 13,000 + Last year I got my can kicked alllll over China. And when i got home, I was even more smoked from the racin and travel, it was like a lingering beat down. Last yr. it was lights out for a cpl. wks for me afterwards. So I’ve been hangin out high as a bird gettin ready the best way I can before the big trip. The crazy part of the trip is that, when I get back on Tuesday from a plane ride around the world, I’m heading back to the airport that Thursday on my way to Elk Grove for that race. Phew, I should be in rare form for that one…I can see my biological clock standing on my shoulder right now givin’ me the stare down.

Best news I have though is the cyclocross camp in Washington D.C on August 22nd!!! We’re going to have cool product give-aways from all my sponsors, we’ll be talking about all things cross’ in a one day format with lunch from Chipotle and and I might even have a special guest speaker coming along too! Chris Mayhew and Dan Tille are gonna also be on site layin down the skills as well. This is gonna be the place to learn, so if your into cross’ or your just getting into it and you like learning… I promise you’re gonna leave that camp knowin’ some skills to pay the bills!
