Racing in Ohio over the last three days was great, awesome venues, well organized races, fast twisty designs, good competition, the list goes on. I also finally got caught up on my lack of UCI points. In cross’ racing there is this issue that happens through out the season, where, once you WIN, 5 ‘UCI-C2′ races, thats it, no more points from events that are delegated as C2 events. Which gives you a max of 150 points. Then you get 6 C1 races, after that its nationals which has a 100 something and world cups which have 300 something and worlds that have the most points. One of the things I was talking to Jon Baker about was that the United States could host a UCI North American championships here on US soil, that would actually get a jersey designating that you were the north American champ. It could be worn similar to a nat’l champ’s jersey that my teammate has now, also similar to the European championships that are held every year… it would give the united states another 100 something points and essentially give us better starting positions over in Euro-land when we all hobbled over there in December when the racing here slows down. I’m on a roll here, but I’m going to stop. I’m happy I’ve won 4 races already this season and things are shaping up really well for a great season. I was able to win all three days in Ohio and I’m ecstatic that it all came together here, although I did miss New England worlds in Glowstah’ Im happy with my decision to come to Ohio for these events. Big shout to my new best friends from Ohio; Randee and Tommy, and my old Jelly Belly mechanic Ben Anderson for putting me up and keeping the Cannondales runnin’ smoooth all weekend and the Ohio/Kentucky crew who let me space out, cool off, mooch all weekend at their tent. Some pictures!
