Congrads to the Baj, music stuff and links

Gossip No Comments »

So a lot of good things happened recently, for starters and most importantly, my good friend and teammate won redlands! Good job to the Baj and the team, great ride! I knew after rooming with the Baj at tour of Cali he was going to have a ride like this, it was just a matter of when. Speaking of tour of Cali, I did an interview with Neal Rogers from Velonews, so check that out here …if your interested…your probably one of my competitors though and actually hate me, so I doubt that will get many looks. Speaking of interviews, I just read Andy’s interview on cyclingnews about the win today, well done interview. So if you are one of my coworkers and were looking for some training tips, I’ll give you one, the website of my favorite DJ who’s pretty much broken my ipod because I never use the buttons anymore. I just upload some of his music and off I go, check out his site, and get familiar with that or check out my personal favorites here on charity mixhere. Just got the phone call from Jelly Belly and I’ll be doing the Tour De Cure come May out in Napa, CA. If anyones interested in donating to my ride for diabetes, you can follow this link . I think thats all the links I’ve got, OHH! I also saved a bunch of money on my car insurance, seeya!

Gimme something, anything, but no more snow

The best part about New England is the snow and the worst part is also… the snow! Especially when its time to get training. photo_031907_001.jpgThats one of my roomates who’s a new england legend, Alec Donahue, racing for NERAC this year. Be on the look out for him. Time off has been okay because I’ve been having some things happen with my Achilles tendon since California, but it’s seems as of yesterday those pains are going away with some light stretching and easy rides, finally! It went from barely being able to walk-soreness the last day of California to no soreness, just some tingling and then from that to these weird muscle spasms and now I think today has been pretty well behaved, but I’ll say, it probably wouldn’t be if I hadn’t made my own night splints… I wanted to buy real splints, but I went to the store down town to get these socks that attach at the front of your toes and attach up by your knee and they were 43 dollars EACH! Who wants to spend 86 bucks on something you’ll use for like a week. Not me, thats why I made my own. achilles.JPG and yes thats a loaf of bread in my hand. What else, Jon Page recently signed a contract for the euro cross team sunweb-projob. Congrat’s Jon, that is huge. Redlands started yesterday and looks like that is going to be a great race, I hear its as smoggy as it ever was from my teammates. I talked to trebon the other day, who knows whats he’s been doing, he’s the kinda guy who when you talk to him on the phone your actually doing or thinking something completely the opposite of whatever he’s talking about. Noticed Guptill is down in Chile with Colavita for his first race with them, that should be awesome, he’ll be coming back with some good form. Alright, from snowy Massachusetts, adios!

cleaning out my closet…

I’ve acquired a lot of stuff in the last 12 years from riding. dn-1.jpeg Most of it is pretty fun to look at. In that picture, I’d say thats about 40 sets of tires and wheels, a few bikes and drawers filled with old parts. While I was in the basement closet I was looking at this old black LX shifter that I broke on my first ride on my new bike back in the day. I’ll never forget it, I was happy as a clam to be out cruising along on my new mtn bike the day after Christmas and a branch just jumped out at me and it snapped off, I was soo pissed… I remember hucking the bike in the woods and it took a while to go get it I zoomed it so far. The amount of bike stuff I have now is ridiculous and I’m finally ditching some it! I also stumbled across some cool pictures of me when I was a youngin to put some street cred’ to the stories speak of! I found a picture of my first 24″ wheel mtn bike. The Giant Awesome, and it was AWESOME. img028.jpg So for the younger junior guys and girls that read the site, just remember it takes time, this whole bike riding/racing deal. But it does come. Heres another cool one of my first year racing my second bike, the specialized stumpjumper with a mag 21 rock shox fork. That was my first real racing bike.img023.jpg Okay and the last one, this was from when i was 13, standing in the rain waiting to wash my wolf creek at some new england pedro’s series race. img025.jpg That was really a sick bike. Now fast forward to a couple weeks ago, Chris, “The Fox” who is the u23 national team massage therapist and a good friend of mine send me a cool picture he took with Jens Voigt and I. 5303.jpg What a great guy that Jens is. Just like in the interviews, hilarious. People were screaming to him “comon Jens!” at the prolouge and his reply: “Stop using your mouth and use your hands and push me!” (in his German accent.) It was great, he was telling me he thinks he might actually have more fans here in the states then in Germany. And for my face in the picture? Well I think he was asking me if I was going to try to use the big ring all the way to the top like he did last year, and that my friends is all I’ve got. Seeya!
