Austin Powers?

Gossip 3 Comments »

I decided enough with the race reports for a bit, I wanted to do a brief review of my peers what many of the people I work with are all about, its that gritty gossip that sells the magazines so I decided, it’s time to get me boosted up in the viewing polls on missingsaddle.com Cycling definitely finds some motivated guys: I’m going to start out with the most wealthy and famous.

Mike Jones the pro biker started his own soda company and simply called it Jones Soda, his twin brother also named Mike, is a rapper who we all know is a pretty exclusive rap star on the mic and make those trunk bangers year after year for everyone. His third brother Brice also races bikes and come to find out in exclusive interview with Brice, makes a sick apple martini. There sister Norah Jones is also in the music business. His uncles, Indiana and Edward are also pretty big ballers. Mike and Brice, are the most wealthy bikers in the peloton, have no doubt in your mind on that.

Not nearly as glam’ as the Jones family but equally as impressive would have to be Kirk Albers: he owns the home decor chain, Kirkland’s and his own signature series at wal-mart, the Kirkland signature series. In an exclusive interview with Kirk he said he landed the signature series” kinda on luck” he told me he was golfing with Hugh Heffner and they came across the Walton family, after a few drinks, the deal was done and the Kirkland signature series was alive.

Jackson Stewart’ did in fact start Stewarts root beers, but it’s reported when he joined with Sierra Nevada they made him sell it. Jack-Stones brother is a lot like him, a joker, Jon has his show on comedy central and then his mom, Martha…we all the know the story on her.

Todd and Troy Wells are indeed millionaires, when I looked into this it seemed strange because Todd was always calling people Boulder millionaires, but come to find out Todd and Troy started Wells-Fargo bank. Troy added the Fargo at the end, when I asked him why he said “well pooairs, I did it cause I was trying to launch my own Oakley line called fargo, didn’t work out so we called the bank that.” These millionaires…

I don’t know what it is with writers and bikers, but Austin, Robbie and Ted King all came from Stephen, one statistic you may not know… Austin started Burger “KING” just before he was born…not bad!

Another entrepreneur, and I had no idea of until an exclusive interview at the USPRO RR when we off the back together. It all started when Brad Huff was yelling at me to pull through and I couldn’t believe it but I glanced back he had his own portable loud speaker system, come to find out, he actually owns his own loud speaker company. UN-REAL! Check it out- http://www.huffloudspeaker.com

Timmy J comes from a very wealthy background in the Johnson and Johnson conglomerate.

This is interesting and I wouldn’t of believed it myself but the McCormick’s are go-getters! Mark owns the Tractor company and his brother Frank owns his spices company, I personally like his chicken seasoning, great stuff and no msg!

Ben Brooks did something really Australian, he put his last name in the title of his company Brooks Brothers and lied about it…he doesn’t have any brothers.

We all know Tony Cruz’ sister Penelope…smokkin!

The TIAA-CREF racer Mike Friedman isn’t rich at all. His dad, Thomas Friedman is though, I’m reading his dads book, “how the world is flat” and it’s pretty good. Mike, tell your dad to shorten it up next time, I had to buy it on tape.

Stu Gillespie’s great great great grandfather was Dizzy Gillespie. I know, it’s crazy but it’s a small world!

John Hanson of the NERAC team didn’t just become a bike racer for no good reason, after a couple record flops from his own boy-band group “Hanson” he decided that it was best to get into a new profession. Although I did here from a bird, he’s trying to bring the band back…yeah.

Barry Wicks started and still owns his candle company Wicks and stickz. He told me his best seller is farmers land and burnt leaves….not bad.

Okay,one more time, Tony’s sister Penelope…

Now this is just unbelievable, Karl’s dad Sir Robert Menzies was the prime minister of Australia, Karl, what are you doing racing bikes!?

Sergeant Shriver? Ring any bells? No, it didn’t for me either, but it’s Matt’s dad and apparently he started the peace corps a few years back. Just google it.

Dan Bowman, good friend, horrible business man, Look at what he’s doing in his spare time: http://www.bowmanhandbags.com

I know this is a lot to digest, especially if your like me and you’ve been living in the dark on all this, but this one really tops them off, that’s why its last on the list. Matt Rices sister Condoleezza is in fact Australian and after winning sea otter classic this year Condoleezza flew him to the white house and they ate fish and talked about the war. Nothing wrong with that. Good work ricey!
Thats a pretty good review and by far the longest post I’ve ever written. Let the comments roll…Seeya

Driving and Deeze’

I need to say good work to T.Danielson in his first GT stage win, I was late to meet some friends for a ride because I couldn’t pry myself away from the live updates! What a good way to win a stage and move up a bit on the GC, good job deeze. The cross’ season is here, the leaves are changing colors in New England and that crisp air is coming quickly too. So this year I would say the bigger news from me is that I’m not heading back to Belgium or Europe for the CX season. Maybe a small trip for some world cup race, but I am looking forward to being home for halloween, thanksgiving and hopefully christmas, although we’ll see what the tides bring. Lately it’s been a lot of running around, Most importantly I am finally getting my training load going to where it needs to be. Photo_090706_003.jpg I moved to Massachusetts to live with a few friends for the cross’ season and I must say the roads here are so much better then in CT, good steady climbs, dirt roads, nice loops, a couple crazy drivers, but I’m pretty happy to have the training partners. Since I moved back to MA, I decided I should take a couple classes and get that college finished, so I don’t have to listen to everyone tell me I’m an idiot for going to college for three years blah blah blah. Now I am offically a “matriculated continuing education student” at westfield state college on Wednesday nights from 4pm to 9pm, yeaaah. I only need 24 more credits towards that stamped piece of paper w/ my name on it, nott bad. What else? I bought a new car from a nun and hope to buy some twenty inch rims promptly. Its a 1990 Chevy Caprice, sky blue…Its tight, look for me with Mike Jones, the white one and his crew, rollin’ in dat. Photo_090206_002.jpg Looks like next weekend will be my first UCI cross’ race of the year, It’ll be close, but I should even have some bikes together by then, but with Vegas and all that coming up, its just crazy for all the bike companys right now. By Glaawwsttahh’ I can have everything dailed in. Speaking of Mike Jones, he is coming out to Glawstaah as well, so if you see this guy in the pit wearing some jelly belly garb, you’ll know he’s with me. Photo_081206_003.jpg I’ll be in Vegas in two weeks so, you’ll be able to catch up with me at the Jelly Belly Sport Beans booth or the black jack tables. Til Later…
